Which Van Should I Hire

If you are in the market to hire a van, it can be difficult to know which one you should hire according to your needs, especially if it’s something you haven’t done before. Are all vans the same? Are some made for certain functions?

In this blog, we will answer the question ‘Which van should I hire?’

North London Van & Truck Hire Ltd is here to provide solutions for you. With over 30 years of experience under our belts, our services are valued and recognised in North London and beyond. Our expertise is to help you find the right van, for the right job.

Our fleet includes small, medium and large vans, in addition to mini buses, automatic vans, electric vans and more! We also provide the ability to purchase vans.

When would I need a van?

A fairly common question we receive is when would a van be needed to hire? It may surprise you to know there are a few occasions where van hire can work out to be an extremely helpful option. Here are some reasons…

  • If you love the outdoors, whether that be hiking, camping etc, sometimes taking a car can be an issue especially when it comes to space for your belongings. This is especially true when travelling in large groups. On occasions like this, using a van can be a helpful option to make the journey easier.
  • If you’re organising an event, whether that be a wedding, a party and more, transporting items in a van can be more advantageous and safer, depending on the contents being transported.
  • If you’re travelling in a group, some van hiring services offer mini buses in their fleet. Mini buses provide transport for larger groups of people to travel together.
  • If you dabble in DIY, or it’s your occupation, having a van to transport your equipment is paramount in ensuring some jobs can be done quickly and efficiently. It also saves you from having to travel excessively.
  • If you’re moving home, using a hired van to transport your belongings can make the experience far more streamlined.
  • If you’re a business owner, or work for a business owner who has products that need to be delivered, hiring a van to undertake the delivery can be a great way to save on costs. Although this depends on the amount of items, and where they will be delivered.

Which van should I hire?

Which van should I hire?

The best way to know which van you should hire is by having a clear understanding of what you will be using the van for. If you don’t have a clear understanding of this before booking, you will struggle to decide between vans.

Most vans, including our fleet, are separated by…

  • Size: The larger a van, the more capacity it can handle, making it ideal for large deliveries, or transporting items when moving house for example.
  • Fuel type: With options in Manual, Automatic, and electric, you can choose a van that is optimised to your preferred method of driving. That being said, North London Van & Truck Hire Ltd’s fleet are all ULEZ compliant, regardless of fuel type.

Additionally, planning the journey you intend to make with the van in advance is also the best way to save your total costs. This is because of two things, paying for fuel and mileage limits.

We have a mileage limit of 150 miles (241.4 km) daily, so if your daily journey is beyond 150 miles (241.4 km), you will be paying extra. This is why, although our van hiring services are available to anyone in England, they are most suitable for anybody operating within the North London/Enfield area.

Is it better to call a moving company or hire a van?

If you are moving homes, it would make sense to call a moving company. However, there may be occasions in which your items are not transported with the care they require, so you would want to oversee the whole process yourself.

This is why hiring a van to move the items is a good option if you aren’t rushing, you can move your items bit by bit in your own time, ensuring they are safely transported.

Does a van hired in North London have to stay there?

Not at all, our fleet can be used to travel through the UK mainland, as long as you make sure you stick within the mileage limit, you won’t incur any extra charges. Under no circumstances can our vans be taken abroad.
